Al Rostamani Pegel is a main contractor in the UAE Construction Industry and has to its credit, timely and successful construction of several multipurpose projects including high rise buildings, villas, hotels, hospitals and industrial facilities.

Job Purpose

To implement and maintain the HSSE management system (HSSE-MS) across the assigned project, and to ensure that project HSSE requirements are being met.

Job Responsibilities

1.Communicate the Health, Safety, Security (HSSE) and Environmental requirements to supervisors and workers on sites and other ARP locations.

2.Implement and maintain the ARP HSSE systems and procedures in assigned work locations.

3.Advise the concerned stakeholders on the applicable HSSE legislation which affects the scope of ARP's workplace.  Assist stakeholders in ensuring compliance thereof.

4.Review method statements to perform appropriate risk/impact assessments and communicates the same to the relevant stakeholders

5.Audits the HSSE documents and ensures that they are up to date and maintained in line ARP-HSSE documentation requirements.

6.Conducts HSSE induction of all new entrants to the concerned workplace.

7.Conduct scheduled training to new and current employees in HSSE systems and procedures. Initiate or conduct specific training in first aid, rescue and fire prevention, protection and response, etc.

8.Conduct daily inspection of the workplace to ensure that the employees are being provided a risk-free and hygienic workplace. This includes checking the welfare facilities, scaffolding, materials, equipment, tools, etc. to know if they are safe to use and meeting requirements.

9.Issues permit-to-work, monitors and controls the same in line with the established procedures.

10.To verify subcontractor HSSE system compliance by conducting audits on subcontractor activities.

11.Prepare and submit the monthly HSSE inspection reports to the Project Manager/Construction Manager. Prepare and submit monthly HSSE report to the HSSE Manager.

12.Investigate incidents in coordination with the site team, prepare report with root cause analysis, propose appropriate corrective actions and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed corrective actions.

13.Implement the emergency preparedness plan and assist the Project Manager and the construction team in handling emergency situations.

14.Conduct regular planned weekly HSSE Meetings with the concerned stakeholders.

15.Ensure security personnel is available at the site as per the requirement and provide all necessary support.

16.To support the security personnel in daily inspection to prevent unauthorized entry/exit of personnel, equipment and materials.

17.To ensure proper usage, maintenance and storage of all HSSE related equipments, accessories and signage.

19.Supervise Safety officers, Jr. HSSE staff, Assistant inspector, Security coordinator, Security staff and scaffolding team (in terms of personnel allocation).

20.Any other additional responsibilities as stated in the QHSE management systems documentation

21.Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  •  Bachelors degree in Engineering - Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical
  • Full time degree or diploma in Health and Safety or Fire and Safety
  • NEBOSH international general certificate.
  • Basic certification in  Environmental management

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar function out of which min of 2 year in construction industry.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Risk Assessments, Aspect and Impact Studies.
  • Fire fighting and First aid.
  • Scaffolding Knowledge
  • Knowledge of OSHAS 18001 & ISO 45001
