Emirates Electrical Engineering is a specialized business platform that provides comprehensive turnkey solutions combining development, financing, construction and operation of solar rooftops for commercial and industrial building in the UAE, also a responsive and flexible organization dedicated for the design and construction of turnkey electrical power projects such as High Voltage Substations, Cable Networks and Transmission Lines.

Job Purpose

The Planning Engineer - MEP is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects. The role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that MEP systems are installed according to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The Planning Engineer - MEP will prepare detailed project schedules, track progress, identify potential delays, and develop strategies to keep the project on track, utilizing Primavera for effective schedule management.

Job Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Planning
•    Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules in Primavera P6 covering MEP installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
•    Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure accurate activity sequencing.
•    Monitor MEP progress against approved milestones and timelines.
•    Ensure schedules comply with client requirements and project specifications.
Resource Planning & Coordination
•    Coordinate with departments to ensure timely availability of MEP materials, equipment, and manpower.
•    Forecast and allocate resources efficiently to prevent delays.
•    Track resource utilization and performance in Primavera P6.
•    Ensure MEP site activities comply with safety policies and industry standards.
Monitoring & Reporting
•    Monitor MEP progress and issue weekly and monthly reports via Primavera P6.
•    Identify schedule delays or issues and implement corrective actions.
•    Prepare status reports for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting risks and mitigation measures.
•    Track KPIs to ensure timely completion of MEP systems.
Change Management
•    Identify, assess, and incorporate schedule changes into Primavera P6.
•    Analyze the impact of changes on MEP timelines and costs and advise the Project Manager.
•    Ensure all changes are properly documented and communicated.
Cost Control & Budget Monitoring
•    Support preparation of MEP-related budgets and monitor expenditures.
•    Coordinate with procurement to control costs and ensure cost-effective MEP execution.
•    Report budget variances and assist in resolving cost-related issues.
Risk Management
•    Identify MEP-related risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns.
•    Manage risks related to material delivery, labor availability, and site constraints.
•    Support development of contingency plans and timely issue resolution.
Collaboration & Communication
•    Coordinate with MEP engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution.
•    Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, and project teams to align schedules with project objectives.
•    Participate in project meetings and contribute to resolving scheduling conflicts.
Documentation & Handover
•    Maintain accurate planning records, schedules, reports, and change logs in Primavera P6.
•    Prepare final scheduling and progress reports for project handover.
•    Support project closeout to ensure complete documentation and timely MEP system handover.

Job Requirements

Education:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
•    Additional certification in project management or planning (e.g., PMP, Primavera) is a plus.
Experience:
•    5+ years of experience in planning and scheduling, with a focus on MEP systems in construction projects.
•    Experience with large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects is preferred.
•    Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire-fighting systems.
Skills:
•    Project Scheduling & Planning – Expertise in preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules using software like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other planning tools.
•    Time Management – Proficient in setting up project milestones, creating timelines, and ensuring that the project adheres to set deadlines, while adjusting for any delays.
•    Cost Control & Budget Management – Knowledge of tracking project costs, managing budgets, and ensuring the project stays within financial constraints. Ability to forecast potential cost overruns.
•    Resource Allocation – Ability to plan and optimize the use of resources (labor, materials, machinery) to ensure effective project delivery.
•    Risk Analysis & Mitigation – Identifying potential risks in the project schedule, proposing mitigation measures, and updating plans to address issues.
•    Progress Monitoring & Reporting – Ability to track and report on the progress of the project, analyzing variances and providing timely updates to management and stakeholders.
•    Change Management – Handling changes in project scope, timelines, or costs and updating the schedules accordingly, including evaluating the impact of changes.
•    Construction Methods & Techniques – Understanding of construction techniques and processes, enabling accurate planning of project schedules and resource utilization.
•    Contractor Coordination – Ability to coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that all activities are on track and aligned with the project plan.
•    Compliance & Standards – Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance while planning and executing projects.•    
Certifications:
•    Certification in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar software is required.
•    PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is an advantage.
