Job Purpose

The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for leading and executing internal audits to assess financial practices, operational processes, and compliance with regulations. This role will involve assessing risk management practices, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, and providing recommendations for improvement to enhance operational performance and mitigate risks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ascertaining the nature of a process, identifying risks and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control, risk management and governance processes. 
  • Assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control systems of the organisation.
  • Developing a risk-based audit plan, preparing the engagement planning memoranda as assigned by department head (IA)
  • Implementing and managing risk-based audit approach, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, particularly CBUAE guidelines. 
  • Providing independent assurance services to evaluate the reliability of financial reporting, the effectiveness of internal controls, and the compliance of branch operations and functions with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Leading specific audit engagements as assigned by department head (IA). 
  • As a lead auditor, supervising and coordinating the activities of the internal auditors as assigned by department head (IA).
  • Executing the engagement work program as assigned by the department head (IA). Ensure the thorough and meticulous maintenance of working papers (RCM, Testing, work program, documents and report to support the quality and integrity of our audit engagements.
  • Preparing and releasing audit reports and following up recommendations as assigned by department head (IA).
  • Periodic follow up all open issues of external assessments as assigned by department head (IA).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including anti-money laundering and know your customer requirements.
  • Promoting the quality and methodological consistency of audit activities. 
  • Organising, following up and replying to requests for internal coordination.
  • Substituting the Manager Internal Audit in the absence or unavailability.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, risk assessments, and recommendations. 
  • Examine and evaluate the organization's adherence to regulations that apply to the money exchange business.
  • Review financial information and operational procedures to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assisting the department head (IA) in developing and implementing initiatives to enhance the department's effectiveness, including risk assessments, internal audit plans, procedures, and report templates.
  • Supporting other activities including quality assurance and improvement programme (QAIP), training needs analysis and budget execution.
  • Assisting in preparation of presentatio+G1ns for Board of Directors / Audit Committee / Senior Management.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Qualified CA, ACCA, CFE, CIA, CISA or other known professional Certificates relevant to Accountancy and Audit. 
  • University degree in business administration and finance. 

Experience

  • Minimum 4 - 7 years of prior experience as an Internal Auditor preferably in Exchange House / Financial Institutions in UAE
  • Previous experience of conducting audits across branches/locations/functions/processes is an added advantage. 
  • Experience in leading audit teams. 

Knowledge & Skills

  • In depth knowledge of Regulatory framework, audit standards and risk management.  
  • Knowledge of computer applications and operations (including Microsoft Excel). Proficiency in audit software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to assess potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal, writing and communication skills and the ability to perform complex internal audits, including operational, compliance, financial and regulatory audits with maturity, tact, sound judgment, and Persuasiveness.
